A tribute to our athletes and builders

The Greater Bouctouche Sports Wall of Fame was created in 2014 to honour athletes and builders from the region who have distinguished themselves during their sports career.

Lisa Allain

Lisa has distinguished herself in various sports such as field hockey, softball badminton, volleyball, basketball and broomball. In these various sports, she has won 14 provincial tournaments, 3 Atlantic tournaments and participated in 14 national tournaments. national tournaments. She has been selected on various all-star teams at the provincial, Atlantic and national levels in various sports. In 1981, she participated in the Canada Games in field hockey in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She was selected to the All-Star team at the 1986 National Softball Tournament with a .586 batting average. Lisa was named MVP of the 1986 Atlantic Broomball Tournament and was the top scorer in 1987 and 1988.

Jean-Marie Allain

This athlete has distinguished himself in boxing at the regional, provincial and national levels. At the age of 14, he began training in boxing and won the Provincial Golden Gloves Championship at the age of 15. In 1978, he represented his province at the Canadian Junior Championships and won the silver medal. In 1979, he participated in the Canada Games in Brandon, Manitoba. He practiced this discipline from 1974 to 1984. Jean-Marie also excelled in field hockey, helping his team the Clément-Cormier Cavaliers to win the Provincial Championship in 1982.

Roméo Hébert

He was president and founding member of the Bouctouche Minor Hockey and Recreation Council. He was an important part in the construction of the Forum Arena and the creation of the Bouctouche Golf Course. He was a founding member of the committee responsible for the construction of two outdoor skating rinks in the 1950's and 1960's. Roméo coached and managed the J.C.'s field hockey team for thirteen years winning the league championship eight times. He was also involved in the construction of two ball fields and became a founding member of the Bouctouche Minor Ball. An important pioneer in our community.

Joan Robere

She dominated field field hockey in high school and continued her dominance at the University of New Brunswick where she won Rookie of the Year (1987-88) and (1987-88) and 2-time Athlete of the Year. She was a standout on the National Junior from 1987 to 1989, the Senior National Team from 1989 to 1991 and at the Canadian university level from 1987 to 1992. Joan has participated in several international tournaments in Ottawa in 1989, Australia in 1990 and England in 1991. Following her field hockey career, Joan made the transition to half-marathons and triathlons to satisfy her thirst for competition.

Jean "Dixie" Belliveau

This athlete played for the Bouctouche Junior B field hockey team at the age of 14 before playing Junior A in Moncton and Major Junior in Ontario. He went on to win two national championships with the Université de Moncton Aigle Bleus. His career continued at the senior level with the Campbellton Tigers and the Miramichi Gagnon Packers with whom he won the Hardy Cup. He then went on to win the scoring championship with the Cocagne Senior B team before ending his competitive career at the age of 30 by revitalizing the Bouctouche JC's team.

Emery Boudreau

From an early age, he was influenced by boxers Yvon Durelle and Rocky Marciano. He began amateur boxing career in 1957 at the age of 15, under the guidance of Aldéard Allain. He took part in 9 fights as an amateur, finishing with a record of 7 wins, one loss and one draw. He took part in 15 fights as a professional professional (1959-1962), finishing with a record of 12 wins (10 knockouts) and 3 losses. He became Maritime middleweight boxing champion. His last fight was against Canadian light-heavyweight champion Burke Emery.

Brigitte Soucy

A dominant volleyball player at the high school and university levels. She joined the Canadian National Volleyball Team in 1992 and helped her country win the bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Argentina. She was a member of the Canadian Summer Olympic Team in Atlanta, Georgia in 1996. She then went on to play professional volleyball for nine years in the Italian First Division. Brigitte is considered by her peers as "one of the best volleyball players ever to play the sport".

Clarence Bastarache

We are in the presence of an athlete who has won 84 medals in national and international competitions in athletics, swimming, basketball, table tennis, volleyball volleyball, archery and hammer throw. A seven-time member of Canada's National Team Clarence Bastarache has set nine Canadian records in the shot put, javelin, pentathlon, 50-meter breaststroke, relay and hammer throw.

Laurie Boucher

He played a predominant role in the construction of the Forum and the creation of the golf course in Bouctouche. He was the founding president of Golf Bouctouche, president of the of the NB Golf Association and New Brunswick's representative to the Royal Canadian Golf Association. Laurie was mayor of Bouctouche and he played an important role in bringing the Jeux de l'Acadie to his municipality in 1985. In addition, he was member of the advisory committee for the construction of the J.K. Irving Centre.
